Studio

A small studio, on purpose.

Eleven architects and designers, one table and a rule that the person who draws your project is the person you speak to. We take on around twelve projects a year so each one gets our full attention.
Our story

It started with one window.

In 2012 our founders were asked to fix a gloomy terraced kitchen. Instead of a bigger extension, they proposed a single projecting bay window — an oriel — angled to catch the morning sun. The family still calls it the best decision they made.
That project set the pattern for everything since: start with how light, movement and daily routines meet, then spend the budget where you will feel it every day. We have grown, but we have kept the studio small enough that every client knows the team by name.

Principles

Three ideas behind every drawing.

Light comes first

We model sun paths before we place a single wall, so every main room gets the right light at the right time of day.

Materials that age well

Timber, lime, brick and stone, sourced as close to site as we can. Finishes that look better in ten years, not worse.

Spend where you feel it

We put money into the things you touch every day — the stair, the kitchen worktop, the window seat — and save it everywhere else.
