Stock photos and AI images
Stock photos
The Add asset dialog in the media library searches stock photos and imports the one you pick into the library.
- Pexels and Unsplash need a free API key each. Openverse works with no key.
- With no key set, searches fall back to Openverse, whose matches are looser.
- Set keys in AI settings, or per website with the Image Studio plugin, which also sets the preferred provider and the default orientation.
Photos keep their photographer and licence, and photos a page loads straight from a stock site are copied into the library so the page does not break later.
AI images
Describe an image and generate it with Gemini 2.5 Flash Image, either directly with a Google key or through your OpenRouter key. Generated images are shown first and saved to the library only when you import one. Image Studio can switch AI generation off per website.
In AI site builds
Generated pages describe their images in words, and those words are turned into matching stock photos. Each page can also get an original generated banner.
Video
The AI editor finds stock videos for backgrounds on Pexels Videos (with a Pexels key) or Wikimedia Commons (no key).
